 Quicklink in email signature
Author: T.Barnett   (6 Jan 09 11:34pm)
I was wondering if it's safe to use the quicklink in an email signature.
I have sent a practice email to myself and found that it looks like it works ok (it doesn't appear for the user to see etc).

I know that sometimes there are massive email chains sent out, or that emails get forwarded (so possibly to harvesters), so I wondered:
If it's safe to do this (i.e. it won't have any negative side effects)
If it's actually a good idea.

Thanks,
Tim

I would assume this might not be a good idea because spam bots only use your email address and don't send right from your side (so where would you put the link? In a signature wouldn't work). Plus if you send it like that to everyone some people have images blocked or non-html so how would you block it so that good people would not accidentally click on it?

That is what I am thinking the more I think about your question.

Unless of course you want to reply to an email that asks you to reply and put in your login information or something (believe it or not I had 1 email like that just a month ago from someone pretending to be Earthlink). But then again .. the person receiving that email might be a real person who would be able to tell the difference .. Don't know ..

I figure it would only produce false results, if people have html turned on i guess they are okay. But when for example i receive a email containing a link from a person i thrust i generally will check it. (i have html off)

And indeed, mails send to those 419 scammers are mostly checked and read by real people.
Maybe include the link in the clear? say it's your company website or something.
But then again.. you proof your email is in active use.

Be smart.
