 Web Site Errors, Delays
Author: M.Keating   (26 Jan 07 9:57pm)
It seems that http://www.projecthoneypot.org/ is lately very slow loading, sometimes failing to load at all. Is this because of legitimate hits' keeping the site busy, or is there some sort of Denial-of-Service attack in progress?

Separately, how often does the information on the "Data" pages get updated? The "Most Recent Harvester" is now five days old. Is this a normal delay, or have we finally done in all of them?! :-)

Thanks to anyone who can answer these.

We've been under MAJOR load by search engines which we've begun to allow to index our deep pages. While we think this ultimately provides a valuable resource, it has overwhelmed the web servers that run the project.

We are in the process of upgrading our hardware and making Project Honey Pot a more robust platform. This upgrade will coincide with the launch of cool new features... including our often-promised http:BL service.

In the meantime, sorry for the trouble. The stats are still being tracked and will update whenever the critical processes on the database slow down enough for the less-critical processes to run.
