Ive recently joined a company, and i would like to know if what were sending out would be considered Spam. We run a directory of services and we obtain our listings by manually searching directorys and various other services, and inputing them into our directory. Then we send an email to the company letting them know that they have been listed with us.
Does this count as harvesting/Spam? Considering that the companies intentionally make their email addresses public information, i think it should fall under a different category then,
harvesting a forum for email addresses where the users are not intentionally making their information public.
Still though Im fretting(on behalf of my employers) about one of our data entry people inputting a honeypot address and us getting sued. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
