 Suggesting humans visit honeypots
Author: E.Twose   (25 Jun 06 2:14pm)
Hi,

I've just registered, but not yet downloaded or installed your Project Honey Pot software.

In your terms of service, it states: "... and without any overt encouragement or suggestion human visitors send to Honey Pots or visit page(s) containing Honey Pots ..."

There are NOW no honey pots, no hiden links to honeypots, nor any related links on my site.

However, search engines such as google and yahoo! may still have cached web pages which direct email harvesters through hidden links to pages containing random, bogus email addresses and links to spampoison.com.

There is also a usenet newsgroup message which I can't retrieve, suggesting that email harvesters visit a page containing random, bogus email addresses.

In all cases, I've retained the pages but replaced their content so that users as simply redirected to the index page of my site, rather than receive a 404 Page not found response.

I'd be grateful if you'd let me know if it's okay to install your software, or whether I'd be in breach of your terms of service.

Many thanks,
ET.

You sound fine. We just want to make sure you're not encouraging human beings -- not robots -- to visit our honey pots or send to our spamtraps. With robots, we want you to encourage away.... which it sounds like you are already doing through other means.

Matthew.
