 What Does it Mean?
Author: P.McKenzie   (11 Feb 05 11:28am)
I recently registered by web site and have installed your "Honey Pot" page. My statistics now say there have been no harvesters but that 19 email addesses have been assigned to my site. What does that mean?

Two things need to happen in order for a visitor to your site to be listed as a harvester. First, that visitor needs to access your honey pot, and second the spamtrap email address that was handed out at the time the visitor accessed the honey pot needs to receive at least one message.

It is not strange that your stats show your honey pot has issued 19 email addresses, but that you have yet to have a single harvester visit. It could be that those were all handed out to non-harvesting robots. Could be they will turn out to be harvesters, but we won't know until they start sending spam to the addresses your hpot issued.

The one thing the 19 addresses tells you for sure is that your honey pot appears to be working and it's only a matter of time before you start catching harvesters!
