hi,

Here in Belgium we don't get static IP's. Therfor, I use an acount on dyndns.org, but the form to add an account won't work. It doesn't recognise this url as one that is correct formated. Can I do something about it?

The URL I would like to use is http://kokohuyb.dyndns.org:8084/honey/ I can always change de name honey in something else...

Something else:
Does it matter what the index file looks like?? or is the url above ok?

Try just entering:

kokohuyb.dyndns.org:8084

We'll give you a file that you can put anywhere in your directory structure under that domain. If you want it to appear as the index file, then set the file name as:

index

Then drop the script you'll download in the directory

/honey/

Assuming that directory is configured to execute whatever type of script you've selected (e.g., ASP, PHP, Perl, etc...) then you should be set. Simply visit the script once to activate it, then add links to your existing web pages pointing at the URL of the honey pot.

Post back here if that doesn't work for you. And welcome to the Project!

this is the error message I get:

There are problems with your Request:

Enter just the domain: kokohuyb.dyndns.org
The port gets assigned during the activation step (after the script actually contacts our server). Let us know how that goes -- welcome ot the Project.

Yes, it's very normal for the links not to "show up" on the pages, at least not visible to human visitors. This is exactly the idea : if humans would see and be inclined to follow the links too, that would tag human visitors as possible spammers. Now only the bots/tools used by spammers find and follow the invisible links, and (hopefully) later on send mail to the addresses provided.

You'll see how many visits your honeypot got when you look at your stats on projecthoneypot.org, and if your honeypot is the FIRST one to catch a new spammer, you'll receive a mail about it, if you selected that option. Spambots already known to the system don't result in a mail, but they are counted in your stats.

thanks for the quick answers.

But i think nobody will find my website because of the dyndns...(at least, google can't find me)
Or do you think they will find me?

Oh, people will find you, I did a search on kokohuyb, and one of the results was a forum posting containing a link to your site. But if you do want your site listed in Google, use the form at http://www.google.com/addurl/?hl=en&continue=/addurl to add your site, and then wait patiently for your site to be spidered.
