 Can multiple blogs use the same honeypot?
Author: R.Hollenbeck   (3 Apr 11 9:08pm)
I have four blogs that I work with. One has a honeypot installed on it. I just activated the plug-in on another blog. Can I use the URL to my existing honeypot for all four blogs or do I need a different one for each site?

Yes you can. Don't know what your structure is but, you can only have one honeypot per domain.

In any case if your blogs are all in the same domain then just use the same links in each blog.

If your blogs are in different domains then links to your honeypot can be used in the other blogs just like they were quicklinks. As you know, a quicklink looks/acts just like the suggested links you got with your honeypot, except they are for a "public" honeypot someone else installed on their domain.

Welcome to fight.

You can set spamtraps for your honeypot anywhere on the Internet as long as it is not visible to regular visitors. A spamtrap is basically just a hyperlink to your honeypot. You can add a link in any blogpost using the html editor:

<a href="http://www.yourdomain.com/honeypotdir/honeypot.php"><!-- hplink --></a>

or use

http://www.yourdomain.com/honeypotdir/honeypot.php

and color the text the same as the background color, effectifely making it invisavle to the human eye but not to spambots. Perhaps it is a good idea to place the link where it won't be discovered easilly e.g. right at the end of a blogpost or page.
