I get this error "An error occurred: Can't locate object method "add_breadcrumb" via package "projecthoneypot::admin" at plugins/projecthoneypot/admin.pm line 159. "

Any suggestions

I followed the instructions exactly

Looks like you're having problems with the Movable Type plugin, not the honey pot itself. Add_breadcrumb is a function of Movable Type that controls the menu that shows your current location. It is used by the Plugin's user interface. I believe it is present in MT v.2.661 and we have had successful installs with that version. I'll look into it.

In the meantime, you should know that the MT Plugin only helps automatically add links from your MT-powered site to the honey pot. If you're having trouble with the MT Plugin, I suggest you install a Perl version and just add the links manually. It's fairly straightforward and will not trigger the error you're experiencing.

Once you've downloaded and installed the honey pot, our website will provide you instructions on how to link to it in a way that will be hidden to your human visitors, but followed by the harvesters. If you add these to appropriate places in your sites MT templates you'll achieve the same thing the Plugin does automatically.

Sorry for the trouble. Thank for the thorough error report. I'll look into whether add_breadcrumb isn't available in v.2.661 or earlier.

Also on MT 2.661

I thought it odd that there was a honeypot sub directory for the plugins folder- usually these types of files end up in extlib -- not that I know much about mt plugins, just have installed a few

I'm running MT 2.65

I'd very much like to use the UI since I administer about 30 weblogs all written by different authors and it'd would be nice to be able to inject this into all of the templates.

I can do a mysql REPLACE, but if you've written a UI (even half as slick as the rest of the projecthoneypot UI's) I'd much prefer ot use it.

Making progress if you got the add_breadcrumbs error -- means it's at least loading the Template.pm library.

Add_breadcrumbs is a function in the MT app which the plugin calls. It appears as though it is missing from some earlier versions of MT. It's purely asthetic (it simply adds the nav. tree to give you a sense of where you are) in the MT Plugin so I just went through and fixed the code so it won't call it unless it's present. I have to confess I made the coding changes quickly, so there may still be a few errors or places I missed. But hopefully -- knock on wood -- we're on the right track.

The version is still listed as v0.1.1. If the only error you're getting is the add_breadcrumbs error then the only file in your setup that should need to be updated is the admin.pm file, which is located generally at:

{mt-dir}/plugins/projecthoneypot/admin.pm

Post back here or send us a comment and let me know if the upgrade fixes the problem.

Downloaded the admin.pm fix mentioned above with same results.

Looks like a great idea. I'll await word on when this is fixed. Thanks again!

Made a change that, I think, clears up the "breadcrumbs" issue. There's a new version of the Project Honey Pot MT script (v0.1.2). You can download it from:

The only file that has changed in the package is admin.pm, so if you've already started the install except for that then you can just replace that file.

Sorry for the trouble. Don't promise anything yet, but it cleared up the issue on a v2.661 MT install that was broken before. Fingers crossed. Let us know if it clears up the problem.
