need domain, or just mail account?

Simple questiion: currently I only have an e-mail account with my ISP, and they are not hosting a domain for me. Can I participate in Honey Pot, or is it designed to work only with domains?

In order to participate you need to either 1) have your own domain, or 2) run your own website (or both). If you have registered a domain, even if you are only using that domain for email, you can participate in the project by donating MX entries for that domain. For example, if you have the domain:

example.com

You could donate:

xyz.example.com

We then use that "subdomain" to help create spam trap email addresses that would be used on the honey pots hosted on other people's websites. This is critical in order to help ensure that spammers cannot tell which addresses on their lists are spam traps, and which are legit.

Unfortunately, if you only have an email address, there's no way to directly participate in Project Honey Pot at this time. One thing you can do to help protect your email address and participate indirectly is send an email to the administrator of your ISP about us. Encourage them to install a honey pot in order to protect the email addresses of all their customers.

Thanks for your interest in the Project!
