 honeypots with dyndns/router?
Author: M.Haines   (16 Jan 05 1:32am)
I've just started fiddling with running a webserver and thought this was a great way to do something useful with it. I'm running Apache 1.3 on FreeBSD behind a cable router/switch, and am using dyndns to point http://droppingbacon.dyndns.org to my server.

I've installed the Perl script but when I visit it for activation, I get the warning that "the domain you are accessing this page from does not match your settings." I've registered the honeypot with the dyndns address but the script is seeing the LAN IP of 192.168.1.1 for that machine.

Is there a way I can host a honeypot with this setup? My router seems to be assigning the LAN IPs using DHCP (and then obtaining my WAN IP using DHCP itself), perhaps the two levels of DHCP here are screwing things up? Any info will probably help, I'd love to support this project. Thanks.

Aha! I just had neglected to fix my ServerName in httpd.conf.
Problem solved.
