What happens if I access my script?
Author: C.Washburn   (8 Jul 10 8:01am)
I just now entered the url for it to see what it looked like. Will I blacklist myself?

Sorry for the dumb question. I'm a noob at this.

I guess I answered my own question. My site blocked me. I really hate getting stuck with bad IP's!

Later on..... The fault was mine, of course. Not only me, but all my visitors were getting 500 errors with my email address included. I undid some changes I made in my .htaccess file. Now the 500 error is gone and doubt it had anything to do with my honeypot. Dummy me deleted the honeypot for no reason.

Just visiting your script shouldn't do anything. If you were to send to an email address hidden on the script, or post to a form hidden there, then that will get you blocked. Just visiting doesn't get you listed. If you were to visit a bunch of honey pots that belonged to a bunch of different users, that could get you blocked too. But just visiting your own honey pots will always be fine.

Yeah, you'll get listed, happened to me, I added a domain and instead of getting the link to click here to confirm the trap, I saw the trap page (but hadn't actually confirmed it yet) and it was still marked as pending confirmation here on the php site.

Went to access the confirmation page again and saw the trap again and now the threat score is 1, I've tried whitelisting but score is still shown as 1 even though all I was doing was confirming my own honey pot.

I guess it will be gone in 3 months.

Thanks for this question and responses, I installed and checked that the page would come up. A new question is how can I see how many times the honeypot script has been run? Can I tell if it is attracting attention and helping thwarting spammers.

Thanks,

Have you checked your stats? M.Prince is right but sounds like M.Kraaijeveld installed his wrong and why he had issues. The stats can be found on the main page http://www.projecthoneypot.org/home.php and of course with you logged in to see them. ;)

My scripts are correctly installed and my IP have a threat score of 1, but am whitelisted.

I revisited a page accidently recently and have since deleted that hp.
