 Which scripting language to use?
Author: B.Collins3   (13 Mar 08 9:50pm)
Another newbie here! I'm just registering and am stuck already. How do I know which scripting language to use? I have a small website that is just for our family. I use FrontPage2000 to administer it. Yes, I know that is pathetic but am stuck with it. Can someone tell me how to find out which language i should be choosing?

Hello,

the basic answer would be, that you need to have a server-sided scripting language capability, where your website is hosted. This would mean that you should get in contact with your hoster and ask there, what server-side scripting languages are provided with your account there. This is something your hoster should answer, nobody can answer this here.

FrontPage2000 to my knowledge only generates html that you upload to your server. Check if your server is able to execute asp, php or even java, eventually upgrade your hosting account to server-side-scripting-execution capability and then return here and do a forum search for your billed scripting language, mostly asp or php.

You'll find the code in your language then at the forum, e.g. here:

-hth, hope that helps you out.

Or just use a QuickLink instead of a full-blown honeypot of your own.

Thank you B.H. and B.S.
I appreciate both responses and think I'll have a go at the Quick Links to start off with!
