 Will hosted sites work?

Hi,

I own domains but do not yet have any solid plans to implement corresponding sites and also don't have much technical knowledge. My domains presently just have Yahoo placeholders. Would I need to run my own web server in order to install a honeypot or donate an MX record or would a Yahoo-hosted site or suchlike work?
