We hide the email address in several different ways, and sometimes not at all. Each honey pot script generates slightly different HTML so they are difficult to spot. We can control how the email addresses are displayed from the central servers so we occasionally test to see if changing things up makes any statistical difference in whether an address gets harvested. So far we're not seeing any spambots that appear to be distinguishing based on whether an email address is hidden in the ways we hide it, but we'll keep testing!
Thanks for the question.
Matthew.
