Donating MX Entries

MX through NetworkSolutions

I thought I had an MX record set up in the GUI from Network Solutions. NS appears to require an A record for my MX entry. I set the mx record to mailx.mi5key.com and created an A record to resolve mailx.mi5key.com to 66.139.76.143. Will this suffice?

Here is the nslookup result.

I don't think that's exactly what you wanted. It looks like what you did there was point all the mail going to the root domain (mi5key.com) to two mail exchangers:

mail.mi5key.com (preference 10)
mailx.mi5key.com (preference 80)

Then mailx.mi5key.com is pointed to our system. Problem with that is that if you're using mi5key.com (the root domain) for anything, and your primary mail server fails for a period of time, your legitimate mail will end up heading to our servers. Not what you want, and not what we want either.

Instead, if it's possible, try keeping the MX for mi5key.com pointing at mail.mi5key.com.

Then create a NEW MX record for mailx.mi5key.com and point that to mx2.mxmailer.com.

That is probably what you tried to do in the first place, but the GUI of some of these DNS editors is extremely obtuse. Play around. Our system will test your configuration and send you a notice when you've got it setup correctly. Until then, your domain won't be used to create any honey pots.
