Installing Honey Pots

Domain does not match error

Hi,

I had the validation error first. I squashed it by adjusting ServerName and enabling virtual hosts in httpd.conf. Now I am getting the following error message:

"Warning: the domain you are accessing this page from does not match your settings. Be sure that this page is linked to from exactly the same domain as you registered (e.g.,24.202.47.113 is not www.zguy.net). Your Honey Pot script will only work when linked from www.zguy.net. Make sure all access to this page occurs within that domain. If you need to access this page from 24.202.47.113 you will need to create a new version of the script here. For more information on trouble shooting this problem, visit our website."

I am running Apache 2.0.39 on windows along with Perl 5.8.0.806. The server is home based and because my IP address is subject to change and my ISP blocks port 80, I have to use a redirection service from DNS2GO to port 8080. I suspect the problem is coming from the fact that this redirection is using the current IP.

Is there something that can be done to work around this? I would very much like to participate in this project.

I have no experience with PHP & have just started my site thru "www.discount-hosting.com" (based in France). The (honeypot) instructions appear to be quite comprehensive & I followed them. However I too am getting a domain not matching error:

"Warning: the domain you are accessing this page from does not match your settings. Your Honey Pot script will only work when linked from www.organisim.com. Make sure all access to this page occurs within that domain. If you need to access this page from 80.247.228.231 you will need to create a new version of the script here. For more information on trouble shooting this problem, visit our website."

If I ping www.organisim.com, it resolves to "80.247.228.231"

etc.

Am I doing anything wrong? Or is it just not going to work with my host?
(perhaps it's a French thing?)

Nope its not a French thing, but a overzealous verifier thing. Its a little less picky about domain matching; your pots should now be respondign correctly. Thanks for reporting the issue -- and welcome to the Project.
