Further digging: It is Google's AppEngine program. Kinda like Amazon's AWS cloud setup. It is in Google's IP range, and I hesitate to block it, so instead I am filing an abuse report here:

... the user's app name is in the user agent when they hit your site.

Do a lookup on this IP. It is in Google's assigned range. Why they don't have it clued into their reverse DNS is beyond me.

This IP has nothing to do with Google. It's used by a Linux-based bot that tries to hack user accounts by guessing session ID's on SMF 2 forum boards.
