When your server has a private IP
Author: D.Reports   (10 Oct 07 11:14pm)
This took a while to find, but the perl .cgi uses apache SERVER_ADDR (ip) to send to the honey pot server. If SERVER_ADDR is 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x, as it frequently is if your server is behind a proxy or mod_proxy front-end, then the project honeypot server replies to the request with an error, but the error is not reported to the page, there is just no mail address in the source (and therefore no stats will be gathered) and there is no alert that the script is "wrongly" installed in your dashboard.

I had to edit the script, and to force the checksum, in order to use the X-Forwarded-For header rather than SERVER_ADDR, now everything appears to be working ok, but this issue took an hour to find when I scratched my head over the zero stats..
