Donating MX Entries

Multiple domains, ONE IP address

I own two domains which point to one ip address.

Should I limit my MX donations to 5 per (sub-)domain, or 5 MX total?

You should limit your donations to 5 for each domain. The fact that the A records for your two domains point to the same IP is not important.

When you donate a MX record, PHP will give you directions how to point the MX record to an IP address that PHP controls so they can setup the required mail services to handle incoming spam.
