 Cannot donate MX entry
Author: M.Gaugusch   (12 Sep 06 8:38am)
Hi,
I want to donate the mx entry mx dot gaugusch . at. Unfortunately I get the following message in the DNS instructions:

Your DNS service appears to be handled by 0 name servers: N/A. You must change all your name servers in order for the MX Entry to be activated.

Do I have to create separate NS entries for the domain mx dot gaugusch . at ?
Otherwise I can't find any problems on my side (dig mx ... works fine)

Thats odd a dig against your donation is not bringing up any NS records when queried for them. Therein lies the problem. Check it out:

dig mx.gaugusch.at NS

But why would I have to add separate NS records? Is the MX record alone not enough? The FAQ doesn't state that I have to add separate NS records.
Additionally, other domains I checked don't answer the query for NS for their MX entries.

Please clarify ;)

Its been a while since I've looked at the MX backend verification. I got a bit mixed up! We query the existence of NS records against the base domain (gaugusch . at rather than the full domain: mx dot gaugusch . at) as an indication that the domain is registered. I'm not sure why the verifier barfed there since my dig against the base domain looks fine. I'll check it out more closely and get back to you. :)

The verification system is now a bit smarter. I re-issued a test against your MX. Your donation should be active very soon. Let us know if you run into any problems. Thanks for help!

I got the same problem:

My mx donation wont test successfully, but everything should be okay...

Same here, twice, for mailu.besse.eu and mailu.brakketroep.nl
I got a message stating "The specific problem we have identified with your DNS modifications for this donation is that it appears the domain which is authoritative for your donated MX Entry may have expired.", for both entries.
A third donation (.com) went through OK.
I think the checks aren't right yet for country TLD's...

That seems right! Hope they can fix it! :)

Still nothing. :-(

When I click 'Reset', I get:
"You will need to make this change on your 0 name servers."

Hey, I really do have more than 0 name servers! (2, in fact)
