help me catch comment spammers. I don't know how.
Author: P.Psepheroth   (1 May 11 11:17pm)
hello,
i've already installed HP on my owned website (particularly a blog).
I have received 15,000++ spams in my site, and all are comment spam.
I have installed HP 1 week or two weeks ago and have created traps as described in the linking instructions. But unfortunately, I haven't caught any comment spammers.
Can anyone please help me here? I would like to help Project HoneyPot catch spammers.
Is there something wrong with my linking?
Please help.

You are not alone. I've had a honeypot for well over a year and caught zero comment spammers.

Then I noted in my logs that there were automated POST attempts to common board posting URLs, along with POST attempts to old blog and forum software I had on my site (but no longer do). So I used an Apache rewrite rule to redirect any POST attempts to those non-existant pages to the honeypot. Several followed the rewrite and posted to the trap.

Now I have caught several comment spammers according to my stats.

Good luck.

thanks H.User5946,
please tell me how to do: "..So I used an Apache rewrite rule to redirect any POST attempts to those non-existant pages to the honeypot."
I'm a noob, but I would like to trap spammers the way you did.
So how will I do the "Apache rewrite rule"?

Can you help with the exact code used?
